2/23/2022 8:47:00 PM

The first service operation vessel (SOV) built for the Asian offshore wind market completed six days of sea trials offshore Vietnam back in January.

The SOV, to be named TSS Pioneer, is being built by Vard at the Vung Tau shipyard in Vietnam.
The vessel will soon be delivered to Ta San Shang Marine, a joint company owned by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) and Ta Tong Marine.
Following the delivery, TSS Pioneer will start a 15-year charter with Ørsted.
The SOV will be deployed on the 900 MW Greater Changhua 1 and 2a wind farm offshore Taiwan for operations and maintenance.
The 84.4-metre vessel has a beam of 19.5 metres and can accommodate 87 people in single cabins. It features a motion-compensated gangway, dynamic positioning system, and a 3D motion-compensated crane. The propulsion is hybrid with a diesel-electric solution.
Located some 35 to 50 kilometres off the coast of Changhua County, Greater Changhua 1 and 2a will comprise two offshore substations and 111 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines, scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2022.
